Well said. I would only add that it helps me to identify how the other person(s) is feeling, or developing, as well as myself. Sometimes it helps to have a wider perspective.

If we are feeling frustrated, angry, or indignant, accept that feeling. Don’t resist it, or wish it weren’t there; but let it in, become interested in how it feels.
